Call for Papers:
Special Issue on Robotics in Space

Guest Editor: Prof. Dragomir N. Nenchev (Hirosaki University)

Submission Deadline: April 30, 2001

During the last two decades of the last century we have been witnessing the fast advance in space based activities. Tele-operated manipulators and other robotic devices have been recognized as an indispensable part of on-orbit extra-vehicular and intra-vehicular missions and planetary exploration. The construction and exploitation of the International Space Station and other forthcoming missions will provide further opportunities and new challenges, and we may expect a new major leap in the field. We invite prospective contributions describing upcoming new space robotics projects and related technology such as:

- teleoperation
- man-machine interaction
- intelligent control and autonomy
- planetary rovers and nanorovers for exploration
- automation and robotics for planetary and on-orbit construction
- EVA robots for inspection and maintenance of space structures
- on-orbit servicing of satellites
- IVA automation and robotics

All manuscripts should include a title page with full names and affiliation of the authors, complete postal and email addresses, phone and fax numbers, an abstract and a list of keywords. The contacting author should be clearly identified. Electronic submission in PDF, postscript or zipped postscript is preferable. Please send via email to:
